Moving Day
Be with movers 1:  Accompany driver for inventory of your possessions.
2:  Final check before van leaves that nothing was left behind.
3:  Complete and read the bill of lading before signing it.
Be Available 1:  Notify both driver and van line where you can be reached.
2:  Confirm with driver directions to your new home.
3:  Discuss delivery arrangements fully with your mover.
Paperwork 1:  Make sure you get your copy of the bill of lading.
2:  Make sure you get your copy of the inventory.
3:  Keep these safe and retain them as a key financial records.

Delivery Day
Be on hand 1:  If your mover can't reach you, you could incur storage costs.
2:  You must pay the driver before your goods can be unloaded.
3:  Have cashiers check or money order made out to carrier.
Supervise 1:  Answer question about what you want.
2:  Take advantage of having trained labor on hand
3:  Tell movers if you want them to take away packing materials.
Before Signing

1:  Check Exterior of Boxes for Damage.
2:  Inspect furniture.
3:  Note any loss or damage on driver's original inventory sheet.
Claims for
Loss or Damage
1:  Must be filed in writing within 9 months after delivery.
2:  Movers acknowledge receipt of  claim within 30 days.
3:  Movers deny or make offer within 120 days of getting claim.
Satisfaction 1:  Professional Movers are paid hourly, on salary.
2:  Drivers are sometimes also on percentage or by distance.
2:  Tips are NOT standard or required, but appreciated.
3:  If your service is extraordinary write down the crews' names and  the time, locations, details of your move and the truck's plates.  If you write a letter on their behalf. it makes a big difference for them.
